Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about setup, compatibility, pricing and safety.

Setup

How long does setup take?

About 30 minutes, in one sitting. Install the app on your parent’s computer, enter your license key, choose a guardian password, and pick the websites they need. You only do this once.

Do I need to be at my parent’s computer to set it up?

Yes, the first setup is done on their computer, usually during a visit. After that the computer starts straight into the GoldenProtect home screen and your parent does not need to change anything.

What will my parent see?

A calm full-screen home screen with a big clock, the date, the weather and large tiles for the websites you approved. Tapping a tile opens the site full screen with a big Close button. Settings are hidden behind your guardian password.

How do I change the approved websites later?

Open the settings on the computer with the F12 key and enter the guardian password. From there you can add or remove sites, block addresses, and change text size and language.

My computer showed a security warning when I opened the installer. Is that normal?

Yes. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper warn about apps that are not yet signed with a paid publisher certificate. The download page has step-by-step instructions for both, and shows the SHA-256 checksum so you can confirm the file is genuine.

Compatibility

Which computers does GoldenProtect work on?

Windows and macOS computers. Mac versions are available for both Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) and Intel, and Windows for 64-bit PCs. The download page picks the right one for you.

Does it work on iPad, Android or Chromebook?

Not at the moment. GoldenProtect is a desktop app for Windows and macOS only.

Which websites can I add?

Any website that opens in a normal browser, such as email, WhatsApp Web, YouTube, video calls and your parent’s news site. We recommend about six sites so the screen stays simple.

Does it work in languages other than English?

Yes. The app is available in several languages, and the guardian and the senior can each see the language that suits them.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Yes. Each license covers one computer. The Family plan includes three licenses, which is handy for two parents and a grandparent.

Pricing and billing

How much does it cost?

Monthly is $10 per month for one license. Family Monthly is $15 per month and includes three licenses. Annual is $70 per year for one license. Prices and plans are always shown on the pricing section of the home page.

Can I cancel, and what if it is not right for us?

30-day money-back guarantee. Cancel anytime. To cancel or change your card, sign in, open your dashboard and choose Manage billing.

Open your dashboard
Who will I be paying, and what will it say on my card statement?

Your payment is taken by Stripe on behalf of RedPacific, LLC, the company that operates GoldenProtect, so that is the name to look for on your card statement.

What happens to my parent’s computer if I cancel or forget to renew?

Your parent keeps using their computer as usual, with their sites and the home screen. Guardian features (calls, screen view, monitoring and settings changes) pause, and they come back when you renew.

Open your dashboard
Do I get updates?

Yes, new versions are included in every plan at no extra cost. Download the latest version from the download page.

How do I pay?

Checkout is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Where do I find my license key?

Sign in and open your dashboard. Your license keys and the computers using them are listed there.

Safety and privacy

Can my parent accidentally leave the home screen or change settings?

No. The app runs full screen, blocks the usual system shortcuts, and keeps settings behind the guardian password, so stray windows and pop-ups do not get in the way.

Can my parent open a website I did not approve?

Only approved sites appear as tiles, and any addresses you add to the block list are refused.

Does GoldenProtect see my parent’s emails or passwords?

No. Your parent signs in to their own websites, such as email, directly with those sites. GoldenProtect does not read or store what they type there.

Can I call my parent or look at their screen from my phone? Will they know?

Yes, from the guardian page on your phone you can start a voice call or view their screen, as long as their computer is on and GoldenProtect is open. While it happens your parent sees a banner with your name and one big End button, and they can end it themselves. In the Guardians tab of the settings (F12, guardian password) you can switch off calls, screen view and the banner.

What if I forget the guardian password?

Choose a password you will remember and keep it somewhere safe. If you are locked out, reinstalling the app lets you set a new one.

How do I know the download is genuine?

Only download from golden-protect.com. The download page lists a SHA-256 checksum for each file, with the exact command to compare it on Windows or Mac.
